Arsenal picked up their first points of the 2014-15 Champions league campaign with a comprehensive 4-1 home win against Galatasaray.
The Gunners had suffered a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in Germany in their opening Group D game last month, but on Wednesday Arsenal were a different and much better side at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger’s men were in control of the match right from the start and took the lead midway through the first half through Danny Welbeck.
The 23-year-old striker doubled the advantage on the half-hour mark and completed his hat-trick seven minutes into the second half.
It was 4-1 to the Premier League giants at the time, Alexis Sanchez having scored Arsenal’s third four minutes before the half-time interval.
Arsenal were reduced to 10 men just past the hour mark when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for a foul and Burak Yilmaz slotted home the subsequent penalty.
However, that did not affect the final result as the North London club eased to a 4-1 win and maintained their chances of progressing to the last 16 of the Champions League.
