Watford fans react on Twitter to Vydra's performance against Brentford

The former West Brom striker hit a superb winner to move the Hornets joint-top of the Championship.

Things are going rather well for Watford at the moment.

Despite the sad news that coach Oscar Garcia had to stand down due to health reasons, his successor Billy McKinlay - whom he helped appoint - managed to guide the club to a 2-1 win over Brentford last night that has left them joint-top of the Championship, only just outside the automatic promotion places on goal difference.

Not bad for a side now onto their third manager of the season after just 10 games.

And the man Watford had to thank for their win was Matej Vydra, whose stunning half volley from outside the box in the second half was worthy of settling any game.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at West Brom and the Baggies may rue not bringing him back to the Hawthorns this campaign, with the Hornets instead re-signing him from Udinese.

"I am very, very pleased, to be honest," McKinlay told reporters after the game. "First of all, I am really delighted to be in charge.

"Maybe I would be exaggerating a little bit if I said I enjoyed it that much. I am enjoying it now but I am really pleased obviously with the result and certain aspects of the performance."

Of Vydra's strike, meanwhile, Brentford boss Mark Warburton said: "It was a magnificent shot from Vydra and there is nothing you can do about that."

Watford fans certainly seem to agree...
