Stats: Arsenal have the four best players in the Premier League in this area

Arsenal V Chelsea

Arsenal have the four most accurate passers in the Premier League so far this season.

Arsenal have the four most accurate passers in the Premier League in their team.

Mikel Arteta, Per Metersacker, Laurent Koscielny and Mathieu Flamini have all been more consistent at finding a teammate this season than any other players in England's top flight who have completed over 200 passes.

When compared with the rest of the midfielders in the Premier League, Arteta and Flamini are the two most accurate with only Manchester City's Samir Nasri and Manchester United's Juan Mata coming close to matching their stats.

Mikel Arteta MF Arsenal 96.4% 224 4 209
Mathieu Flamini MF Arsenal 93.7% 209 4 331
Samir Nasri MF Man City 92.6% 219 4 276
Juan Mata MF Man Utd 92.6% 203 5 348
Eden Hazard MF Chelsea 91.5% 284 6 505
Yaya Touré MF Man City 90.7% 464 5 450

Arteta, who has just signed a new contract at the club, may have come under some criticism for his performances of late, because of some poor defending, but his quality is shown in his passing.

The Spaniard is the most accurate distributor in the Premier League, finding a teammate with over 96% of his 224 passes.

It is something which Arsene Wenger places a high priority over and it suggests why the Frenchman rates Arteta so highly.

It also it noticeable that Mertesacker and Koscielny are the two most accurate centre-backs, as the pair continue their formidable partnership at the heart of the Gunners defence.

  PositionTeamPassing AccuracyTotal PassAppearancesMins Played
Per Mertesacker DF Arsenal 94.1% 306 5 450
Laurent Koscielny DF Arsenal 94% 270 5 386
Phil Jagielka DF Everton 92.9% 396 6 540
Martin Skrtel DF Liverpool 91.7% 242 4 360
Sylvain Distin DF Everton 91.4% 291 4 354

Phil Jagielka and Martin Skrtel are their nearest rivals, but the Arsenal duo comfortably find a teammate more often than the England international.

The Arsenal quartet may play in the more defensive positions in the side, but their form in this area is hugely impressive and they will be looking to continue it for the rest of the campaign.

Supporters of the North-London club may have been a little deflated by the start to the club have made, but Wenger's philosophy of retaining possession still is very evident at the side.

Although Arsenal would have liked to be a little more incisive with their passing, the ability to keep the ball off the opposition cannot be underestimated and Wenger is sure to be proud of this record.
