Report: Inter to send scout to watch Liverpool v Basel

Inter are expected to have a representative at St Jakob Park to watch Basel v Liverpool this evening in the hope of seeing Fabio Borini.

With Daniel Sturridge injured, Fabio Borini could be in line to start against Basel this evening and his Serie A suitors will be watching.

Borini rejected the chance to leave Liverpool in the summer, choosing to stay and fight for a first-team place despite the arrival of compatriot Mario Balotelli.

The 23-year-old hasn't had much chance to impress so far this season, but the short window of Sturridge's injury could be crucial for him.

Inter have made no secret of their interest in Borini and were said to be preparing a summer bid before their sale of Fredy Guarin fell through leaving them lacking the cash to make it happen.

In the end, Inter put their hopes in Southampton loanee Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, who has delivered so far, but there is still a need for further firepower.

Turin newspaper Tuttosport reports that Inter are sending a scout to take in Liverpool's Champions League trip to Basel and he will be paying special attention to Borini, should he get on the pitch.

Inter have a secondary objective in Basel centre-back Fabian Schär, whose contract expires next summer, which is likely to prompt a flurry of interest from European clubs.
