The Newcastle United forward will still be on crutches for 'a couple of weeks.'
Newcastle forward Siem de Jong has posted an injury update online.
The Dutchman was ruled out for several months - possibly until Christmas - earlier this season and has been on crutches since.
And he still is - but only for a 'couple of weeks.'
"Still a couple of weeks to go on crutches," he wrote on social media site Instagram, following it up with a sad smiley face and attaching the above photo.
De Jong joined the Magpies for a fee of £6 million this summer and began to show signs of settling in at St James' Park during the limited game time he received at the beginning of the Premier League season.
But a thigh injury put paid to the 25-year-old's hopes of making an immediate impact on Tyneside. The fitness problem added to the list of recent blows he has encountered, after suffering a collapsed lung at Ajax last season.
Without De Jong, Newcastle have not fared well in front of goal, having only scored five times so far this campaign. The news that he will be off crutches soon, however, will no doubt come as a boost to Alan Pardew and co, especially with the likes of Rolando Aarons also sidelined through injury.
Newcastle travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City this weekend.
