Just when one thought that the injury problems could not get any worse for Manchester United came the news that Ander Herrera could be out for ‘weeks’.
Herrera was substituted in the 74th minute as United went on to win the game 2-1 despite the dismissal of captain Wayne Rooney earlier in the second half.
On Tuesday, United gave an update on the extent of the damage caused to Herrera in the match, hinting that he will be on the sidelines for 'weeks' (click here to read more).
Later on Tuesday evening, Herrera himself took to social networking site Twitter to assure the fans that he will do his best to regain full fitness as soon as possible.
A real shame this injury, but now's not the time to feel sorry for myself. I'm already working to be back as soon as possible!— Ander Herrera (@AnderHerrera) September 30, 2014
Herrera’s Twitter message gives a glimpse into how much team spirit there is in the United squad under manager Louis van Gaal.
The former Athletic Bilbao star has been a key player for United so far this season, and it will be interesting to see who takes his place in the starting line-up against Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
