Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany believes his side still has a chance for European glory this season.

The Blues could only draw 1-1 with AS Roma on Tuesday evening, leaving Manuel Pellegrini’s side with one point from their opening two Champions League games.

But in quotes published by the Western Morning News, the Belgian international refused to dismiss their chances.

“It won’t set us back,” Kompany said. “It won’t affect us. We will deal with it.

“It gives you a feeling to get back out there and show everyone how good you are.”

City still have four matches to turn things round, but they must ensure at least a win and a draw against CSKA Moscow and that will be easier said than done.

In other news, Roma’s goal-scorer Francesco Totti has revealed that he has City to thank for his equaliser.

In quotes published by, the Italian front-man commented on a tweet from City’s official Twitter account that said Totti had never netted in England.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, he said, “City’s tweet? It really brought me luck. It was a beautiful goal and a good performance.”
