A round up of news stories this morning about Liverpool.
Daniel Sturridge has failed to recover in time to feature against FC Basel this evening.
The striker has been out of action with a thigh problem and was thought to be close to a return.
The forward has missed five games with the injury which developed during the last international break.
Brendan Rodgers has moved quickly to rule him out of the upcoming break, where England boss Roy Hodgson could draft Sturridge back into the side.
“Daniel won't be fit [for England]. Whether he is available for the weekend or not, he won't be fit,” Rodgers told the press.
Liverpool claim Mamadou Sakho’s absence from the squad to play in Basel this evening is because of injury.
Sakho misses a second game after he was left out of the squad to face Everton last weekend.
