Expect the Dead Rising movie to be 'Indiana Jones with Zombies'

Zach Lipovsky and Tim Carter's Dead Rising movie adaptation begins filming this week.

Last month we reported on the movie adaptation of Dead Rising and it finding its director, Zach Lipovsky (Leprechaun: Origins). Well, the movie starts shooting this week and the full cast has been revealed along with some insight into the movie itself.

Speaking to Slashflim, Lopovsky gave some insight into how he'll approach adapting the video game into a movie. 'The idea that you can be bitten and remain human as long as you take your medicine every day is very interesting and dramatic. Similar to the social stigma of living with HIV,' he said.

'Another very cool element from the game is the zombies remember a little bit about their previous lives. There is something really haunting about seeing a zombie cop randomly firing his gun, or a zombie mom pushing a stroller.'

Lopovsky also spoke about playing Dead Rising 3, and how he'll note down any moments he gets scared or laughs to add them to the script. 'Tonally it will be like “Indiana Jones with Zombies.” Fun, scary, dramatic action,' he said.

The movie's cast comprises of Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die, Desperate Housewives, Dallas) in the lead role with Meghan Ory (Once Upon A Time, Intelligence); Virginia Madsen (Sideways, Candyman, The Number 23); Dennis Haysbert (24, The Unit) and Keagan Connor Tracy (Bates Motel, Once Upon A Time, Battlestar Galactica).

Dead Rising will first launch on Crackle, Sony's free US-based service, then it will be available on other media following that.
