'Against Arsenal was the best we've played...' - Klopp bemoans poor form

Jurgen Klopp says the Arsenal performance should be Borussia Dortmund's benchmark - after recent poor form.

While Arsenal take on Galatasaray this evening their first game conquerors in the Champions League will also be in action. Arsenal were unceremoniously swept aside by Borussia Dortmund in their first game in the Champions League this season, as goals from Ciro Immobile and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw Dortmund cruise to a 2-0 triumph.

Tonight Dortmund take on Belgian side Anderlecht. But despite that victory over Arsenal Jurgen Klopp is not over confident of beating the Brussels outfit.

He has been speaking to the German media ahead of the game, insisting that Anderlecht are a very competitive side. He also believes that the game against Arsenal is in fact the best Dortmund have played so far this season.

He stated:

"We do not yet have two games in a row with the same eleven to play football. That worries me. Our match against Arsenal was the best we've played this season. Which we should use as a reference..."

And Klopp is not wrong. Dortmund go into tonight's game in poor form. They have not won since defeating Arsenal a fortnight ago. Defeats against Mainz and Schalke sandwich a 2-2 draw with VfB Stuttgart.

Injury problems are of course a key factor, with Marco Reus, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Nuri Sahin, Oliver Kirch, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Ilkay Gundogan and Sebastian Kehl all out and Mats Hummels only recently returning to first-team action.

But Klopp knows that if they play like they have in their last three games, Anderlecht will do the number on the Bundesliga side. Play like they did against Arsenal and this will be a walk in the park.
