Chelsea star Andre Schurrle has thanked and encouraged the club's supporters after they eased to a 1-0 win away at Sporting Lisbon last night.
The group stage tie was decided by a single goal from the head of holding midfielder Nemanja Matic, but the clash at the Estádio José Alvalade was anything but tight.
Jose Mourinho's side dominated much of the game against Sporting's relatively young side, but could not convert their dominance and chances into goals.
Schurrle who started the game playing behind free scoring striker Diego Costa offered encouragement to supporters by tweeting: "Important win tonight!! Thanks for the support!! Goals will come soon:))) #believe #faith #cfc #3points"

It's the second Champions League fixture that Chelsea have failed to score more than one goal in. In their first, at home to German outfit Schalke they were held to a 1-1 draw after taking an early lead.
This lack of European goals might be of concern to Mourinho as the tournament progresses. They should qualify from their group with relative ease but bigger test are yet to come, and if they can't put matches to bed like they should then they might struggle to reach the latter stages of the competition.
