Who joins Martin and Pilkington in the Championship team of the week?

Molineux - Wolves - Billy Wright Stand

Watford, Bournemouth, Ipswich Town, Brighton, Cardiff City, Wolves, Derby County and Huddersfield stars all feature.

The Championship threw up some interesting results over the weekend with an entertaining draw between Reading and Wolves while Leeds United got off to a losing start under Darko Milanic against Brentford.

There were plenty of standout individual performances, as we name our Championship team of the week.

GK – Heurelho Gomes (Watford)

Watford conceded two in their game against Blackburn but were it not for the ex-Spurs player, they could have lost the game.

RB – Simon Francis (Bournemouth)

Francis was effective at both ends of the pitch, grabbing a goal and capping an all round performance against Wigan.

CB – Christophe Berra (Ipswich)

Produced one of his best performances of the season against Rotherham, there was just no way through him.

CB – Gordon Greer (Brighton)

It was always going to be difficult for Greer because Brighton were travelling to the high flying Nottingham Forest but he excelled.

LB – Tyrone Mings (Ipswich)

Similarly to Francis, he was effective at both ends, creating an extra threat but also making it difficult for the Championship new boys to get forward.

RM – Anthony Pilkington (Cardiff City)

Pilkington scored his first goal in Cardiff colours against Sheffield Wednesday, which was an important result for the Welsh side.

CM – Daniel Tozser (Watford)

Got stuck in against Blackburn and didn’t allow the opposition’s midfield to settle. Scored a great free kick.

CM – Jonathan Douglas (Brentford)

Had the inspiration of playing against his former club in Leeds United. Played a hand in both goals for Brentford.

LM – Bakary Sako (Wolves)

The Reading defence will still be having nightmares about the way Sako played against them. Pace, trickery, the list could go on and on.

ST – Chris Martin (Derby County)

Did exactly what his side need him to against Bolton and scored both chances that fell his way.

ST – Nahki Wells (Huddersfield Town)

Another striker to bag a brace. His goals were the difference in an otherwise tight match against Millwall.
