A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United…
Manchester United have reportedly delayed an announcement regarding Ander Herrera’s back injury as they need more time to assess the extent of the damage.
The Spanish midfielder left the field early against West Ham United, and the Guardian reports that an intended statement on Monday evening was delayed with the club fearing the injury could be worse than first thought.
Herrera has impressed for United since his summer move, scoring two goals and looking like an excellent option in an area of the field that for so long has been the club’s Achilles heel.
In other news, the Daily Mail reports that United are considering a series of friendly matches to be played when other sides are taking part in the Champions League.
The club have just league and FA Cup matches to look forward to for the remainder of the campaign, and as such they have quite a void to fill during midweek.
It has been suggested that matches in the Middle East could be the most likely option, and would allow the club to bring in additional revenue to replace some of the shortfall suffered by their failure to qualify for Europe this season.
