Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse underwent surgery on his foot on Monday.
The teenager was taken off in the 69th minute of the encounter and underwent surgery in hospital, from where he tweeted the following picture on Tuesday morning.
Ward-Prowse is now expected to miss all footballing action for 10 weeks. The promising youngster has played for Southampton in every match so far this season, and the injury lay-off will come as a blow both to him and Saints manager Ronald Koeman.
Southampton have been doing pretty much in the Premier League this term. Following the player exodus in the summer, Koeman’s side were expected to struggle, but they are flying high at the moment.
After six rounds of matches in the English top flight, Southampton find themselves second in the league table with 13 points from six matches, three points behind leaders Chelsea.
