Manchester United have given an update on the injury problems facing Ander Herrera.
The Spaniard was substituted in the 74th minute, and it has now been confirmed by United that he has fractured a rib.
INJURY UPDATE: Ander Herrera sustained a fractured rib vs West Ham. We'll continue to monitor his progress over the next few weeks. #mufc— Manchester United (@ManUtd) September 30, 2014
Herrera now seems to face a spell on the sidelines for ‘the next few weeks’. This is certainly bad news for United manager Louis van Gaal, who has made the £29 million summer signing a key player in his midfield.
The former Athletic Bilbao star seems to have settled in well in the Premier League, having scored two goals in four league appearances so far this term.
It will be interesting to see how Van Gaal lines up his team against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
United will also be without the suspended Wayne Rooney for the clash at Old Trafford, meaning that there will be at least two ‘new’ faces in the starting XI against the Toffees.
