Jamie Carragher picks Championship side he most wants promoted

Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest are the most popular Championship teams…

Out of all the sides in the Championship, it is title-chasing Nottingham Forest who Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher prefers to see return to the Premier League.

The last time Forest were in the Premier League was in the 1998-99 season having finished atop of the erstwhile Division One - a season in which Pierre van Hooijdonk netted 34 times. However, their time in the top division was not as successful as they finished in 20th having won just seven of their 38 games.

Only five points separate Norwich City in top spot (20) from Sheffield Wednesday in ninth (15 points) and, though guaranteed promotion may be out of reach for some clubs, a play-off place could be on the horizon for a number of outfits like the resurgent Leeds United.

While Norwich City are an evens bet for promotion by popular bookmakers, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Watford, Ipswich, Derby County, Middlesbrough, Charlton Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday are all considered to be favourably poised, also.
