Jamie Carragher: I'd sign Marco Reus at Liverpool if money no object!

Marco Reus

Legendary Liverpool defender would jump at the chance of signing Borussia Dortmund attacker.

During an impromptu question and answer session conducted on his personal social media account, Jamie Carragher made a number of compelling points regarding recently regarding the club's best centre back partnership and the one signing he would make if he were in charge and money were no object.

For Carragher, the best pairing in defence right now is Martin Skrtel and summer signing from Southampton Dejan Lovren, while the difference-making transfer he would love to see completed is not a replacement for seemingly error-prone goalkeeper Simon Mignolet but an addition to an already strong forward line - Marco Reus.

On his desire to see Reus move from Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool, Carragher offered three words to back up his opinion: "Pace, goals and assists!"

Versatile midfielder Reus, 25, has been plagued by injury in the past 12 months - so much so that he was absent from Germany's historic 2014 World Cup winning campaign.

However, this season in two Bundesliga outings, the versatile midfielder has registered an 81% passing accuracy, returned eight key passes, one assist and even scored one goal from just four shots.

Reus has a transfermark.co.uk valuation of £44 million and is contractually-bound to Borussia Dortmund until 2017 but has a release clause which becomes active next summer.
