Tom Cleverley says that he has been impressed by the standard of the Aston Villa squad since joining.
The midfielder joined on loan from Manchester United on deadline day and may have been expecting a dip in quality from what he was experiencing at Old Trafford, but Cleverley insists that the standard is still very high.
Indeed, Cleverley moved to praise two of his midfield counterparts at Villa Park who had caught his eye over his initial spell at the club.
"It's been brilliant here," he said to Villa's official site. "Everyone at the club has welcomed me really well.
"I am enjoying myself, I am playing - and playing with two fantastic midfielders in Fabian and Ashley.
"I have been really impressed with the level of the squad and it's a pleasure to play with the two of them.
"They're on the same wavelength as me. I am really enjoying my football."
Since Cleverley has joined Villa have had a very tough set of fixtures and their form has suffered as a result.
The Claret and Blue may have picked up a win in his first appearance, where they beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, but defeats against Arsenal and Chelsea have followed.
Even so, Paul Lambert should be optimistic about the opening to the season that his team have made.
Going into the campaign many had tipped Villa to be amongst the relegation candidates, but their performances so far have belied that expectation and Lambert can feel pleased with his side's displays.
The team are currently in the top ten of the Premier League and they will be determined to build on this impressive start moving forward.
Although the fixture list shows no signs of relenting for the imminent future, with a match against Manchester City next up for the Villians, they will still be full of confidence and Cleverley will be hoping that his midfield partnership can play a pivotal part in a shock victory.
