Roma face injury crisis for Manchester City clash

Roma have a number of key absentees for their Champions League encounter with Manchester City - a list which includes Daniele De Rossi.

Roma have made a perfect start to the season, but they face an enormous fortnight and could miss some key men.

Rudi Garcia's side beat Verona 2-0 last weekend on Francesco Totti's birthday and maintained their 100 percent record this season.

But Roma now take on Manchester City away on Tuesday evening, followed by a trip to Italian title rivals Juventus, who are yet to concede a goal, on October 5.

Roma may be without as many as seven players for their coming engagements, arguably the biggest worry being goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis, who picked up a thigh injury against Verona.

The Giallorossi are preparing to call upon back-up Lukasz Skorupski for the game against City and Garcia may need to shuffle the deck a little.

It looks like Roma will also be without defenders Davide Astori and Leandro Castan, left-back Federico Balzaretti, Salih Ucan, Marco Borriello and, most importantly, Daniele De Rossi.

Roma are returning to the Champions League after two years and may find it difficult to adapt to the pace while keeping their title challenge going.
