Chelsea prepared for their latest Champions League match on Monday morning.

Chelsea take on Sporting Lisbon in their second Champions League match of the season this week, and their players were put through their paces on Monday morning.

Jose Mourinho knows how important a win is after his side could only draw with Schalke at Stamford Bridge earlier this month. But that will be easier said than done against a Sporting side who excelled in the Primeira Liga last season and have some of the most exciting young players in Europe to call on.

Ahead of the match, Chelsea’s players had to brave the elements to prepare for the game, with midfielder Nemanja Matic photographed hiding under the hood of a club-emblazoned waterproof jacket.

The weather is likely to be considerably better when Chelsea take to the field in Portugal on Tuesday evening, but the work they did in the rain earlier today could prove vital as they seek to get out of what is beginning to look like a very tricky Champions League group.
