Pardew expects tough test
Alan Pardew says that Newcastle United are expecting a tough test when they take on Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium tonight.
The Magpies lost to the Potters in the same fixture last season and Pardew has revealed that he is seeking an improvement on that display.
"It's always tough to go there," Pardew commented to the club's official site.
"We got beat there last year, it was a tough day for us and we are looking for a better showing than we did that day."
Pardew hints at front-two
Alan Pardew has hinted that Newcastle United forwards Papiss Cisse and Emmanuelle Riviere could be partner each-other up-front.
The two strikers are yet to feature together, but Pardew has suggested that it could be in his plans for the future.
"For sure they will play together at some point," Pardew said to Newcastle's website.
Jones reveals Buckley strength
Sunderland defender Billy Jones says that William Buckley's strength lies in his ability in one-on-one situations against defenders.
Buckley only joined the Black Cats this summer, but he's made a positive impression and Jones has certainly been impressed by him.
"Will’s strength is one v one," he said to the Sunderland Echo. "It is hard for any defender to play well against him one v one."
Poyet still searching for Sunderland formula
Gus Poyet has admitted that he is still searching for the winning formula this season at Sunderland.
The Black Cats have not picked up three points so far this season and Poyet has said that he is still trying to find the best way to set his side up.
"We're trying to look for the formula that's going to work and then you need to get a break," the Sports Mole quote him as saying.
