Is West Brom ace the PL's hottest forward prospect since Rooney?

Saido Berahino

Saido Berhaino has been linked to Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in the past.

Saido Berahino's impressive double in West Brom's 4-0 hammering of Burnley hints at a player set to become one of England's top young attacking prospects since Wayne Rooney.

The striker is the top scoring Englishman in these early Premier League months, having netted two braces to see him joint third in the list alongside Sergio Aguero.

The Baggies themselves have won their last two games in a hugely impressive fashion, firstly earning an unexpected but deserved win at Tottenham, before going on the goal trail against Burnley.

Sunday's win saw them leapfrog Liverpool to eight points, the same number as Manchester United and Spurs, and much of this strong form has come as a result of Berahino shining at the tip of West Brom's attack.

Though he didn't score at White Hart Lane, he was a nuisance to a defence who may have expected an easy ride against the 21-year-old.

Instead, Berahino gave the misfiring Emmanuel Adebayor a lesson in how to lead the line and cause problems for the opposition, before going on to score against Hull in the League Cup in midweek.

Clearly, he took his impressive form one step further against Burnley, and looks full of confidence and well worth a call up in England's upcoming games against San Marino and Estonia.

Berahino had already proved he was one to keep an eye on last season, scoring 9 times over the course of the campaign to attract interest from a whole host of Premier League big guns, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

The youngster has this season proved that he could become a bonafide striker of some class in the top flight, and the fact he has done so at a West Brom side tipped to struggle this year is only good news for the player and his reputation, not to mention the Baggies themselves.
