Liverpool head into their Champions League game against FC Basel with the edge over their opponents in several areas.
However, Basel faced an opening match against the reigning European champions Real Madrid, while the Reds secured three points against Ludogorets in front of a sold out Anfield.
Therefore it’s difficult to judge what to expect from these two teams based on their opening games because they had very different starts.
One area that Brendan Rodgers will definitely want his team to improve is in terms of their conversion rate.
They should have developed a much bigger lead and cushion in the game against Ludogorets and may not have as many attempts on goal in another Champions League game this season.
On the other side of the coin, Basel will more than likely be more difficult to break down because of the way they shipped goals against Madrid.
That means Liverpool will have to be patient and repeat the impressive passing stats they produced against Ludogorets as they wait for an opening and try to utilise space on the counter attack.
Some very experienced European teams have gone to Basel before and struggled so Liverpool need to take their chances when they come.
