Manchester United continue to be linked to former icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Yet don't count on a blockbuster return next summer, argues Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague.
Speaking to SkySports Revista de la Liga, he told viewers that while United and Ronaldo may want a move, Real Madrid will not allow it to happen.
He said: "It is quite clear that Manchester United are letting all this (talk) continue, because they are interested in Cristiano Ronaldo. And Ronaldo dreams, would like to go back to Manchester United.
"It's just the timing, which people are getting wrong. People want this to happen in January, it's not going to happen. In the summer, I don't think it's going to happen.
"Real Madrid have got no intention of selling Cristiano Ronaldo next summer. In two years time, I'd say yes, that is possibly the time, he will be 31, going on 32, for Real to say OK, we can cash in on him, brilliant, he's done a lot for us, it's time to move on."
Unfortunately for Ronaldo and United, it's Real who hold the cards, with him under contract until 2018.
Having sold top star Angel di Maria to United this summer, it would surely be asking too much to assume they would allow another Galactico to make the same move within 12 months.
