Manuel Pellegrini's Citizens take on AS Roma on Tuesday evening, having lost to Bayern Munich earlier in the month.
There could be a happy reunion on the Etihad Stadium pitch on Tuesday evening as Manchester City loan star Frank Lampard could shake hands with former Chelsea team-mate Ashley Cole, who could line-up for his new club AS Roma when the Italians take on the Premier League titlists in the second round of group stage fixtures in the Champions League.
However, for former Manchester United mainstay defender Gary Neville, now serving as a renowned pundit on Sky Sports, the match is a serious matter as it is effectively a must-win game for City after Manuel Pellegrini's men came unstuck against Bayern Munich.
"I think City will do okay in the Champions League," said Neville when previewing City's chances recently.
"The fixtures are friendly to them this week," he added, perhaps uninterested in Roma's exceptional run in Serie A which has seen them collect five wins from five, with a 5-1 rout over CSKA Moscow already returned in the first game of Group E.
"I expect City to win at home and they need to, especially losing it so late last time to Bayern. They are in a tough group but I expect them to beat Roma."
