Ashley Cole: Roma’s lucky charm v Manchester City?

Roma will need all the help they can get against Manchester City, but Ashley Cole's record against the Premier League champions is encouraging.

Ashley Cole played a full 90 minutes in Roma's 2-0 win over Verona and the former Chelsea man could be a secret weapon against Manchester City.

There had been reports in the Italian and English press that Cole had already been having second thoughts about his decision to join Roma after becoming a free agent this summer.

But with Roma enjoying a 100 percent record so far this season and Cole starting to slot into an injury-ravaged defence, the former England international may be settling in.

Roma face a stiff test when they take on Manchester City away tomorrow evening, but Cole's record against their opponents means he could be a valuable asset.

Italian newspaper Leggo labels Cole, 'Roma's lucky charm' and points out that the left-back has played against Manchester City 21 times in his career, winning 14, drawing nine and losing just twice.

Cole has scored twice against Manchester City, once in 2001 and once in 2005, and Roma would certainly appreciate a contribution tomorrow.
