Roy Keane is one of the greatest footballers of all time and a Manchester United legend.
The former Republic of Ireland international midfielder is best known for his hard tackles and defensive abilities, but United forward Wayne Rooney has highlighted another area of his game: his passing.
In fact, the England international goes on to claim that Keane is best passer of the ball he has ever played with.
‘With Roy, I knew he knew he was a great footballer but until I played with him I didn’t realise how great’, the 28-year-old told The Times. ‘His passing was probably the best I’ve played with, in terms of getting it in to the forwards’ feet.
‘I had associated him with someone who got round the pitch, making tackles, but it was his passing that blew me away’.
Many football followers will find this strange; after all, Rooney had played with the likes of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, who are better known for their attacking abilities.
But Rooney’s comments about Keane shows how big a player the Irishman was for United during his time at Old Trafford.
