A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United…
Real Madrid have reportedly told Cristiano Ronaldo that they have no intention of selling him back to Manchester United.
That is the claim of Goal.com, which reports that despite apparent interest from Louis van Gaal’s side, they will not sanction a move at the end of the season and will not even discuss a possible price.
Given the Portuguese international’s importance to the Spanish club and his simply outstanding goal-scoring record, that is no surprise. But it will come as a blow to those United fans hoping to see the 29-year-old back at Old Trafford…not least those who paid for a plane to send him a message this weekend asking him to “come home”.
In other news, reaction from United’s 2-1 Premier League win over West Ham United on Saturday continues.
Van Gaal’s side secured the victory courtesy of goals from Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, but the club were lucky to hold on after the England captain received a red card.
That said, there were plenty of plus points, including a fine showing from debutant Paddy McNair at the heart of the club’s defence.
