Former Everton skipper Phil Neville believes that Phil Jagielka’s last-minute equaliser in the Merseyside derby is this season’s goal of the season so far.
The England international stunned Anfield and the millions watching worldwide when he reacted to a loose ball 25 yards from goal by firing a thumping half-volley past Simon Mignolet and into the top corner.
His goal, his first for almost two years, gained the Toffees a share of the spoils and robbed Liverpool of a crucial win as they bid to bounce back from a poor start.
Neville, meanwhile, was doing his usual punditry weekend work and was active on social networking site Twitter when he responded to his former teammate’s cracker.
Asked how highly he rated the goal, Neville answered by labelling it the Premier League goal of the season to date.

Jagielka, 32, certainly surprised his boss Roberto Martinez by wading forward late in the game, although his strike certainly made up for it as the Spaniard described the goal as the best he has ever seen live.
“I have never seen a better strike live, it was incredible, though it probably it helps it was in the last minute, at Anfield and for my team," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.
The draw leaves Martinez’s side in 13th spot having won just one of their first six games of the season.
The Reds, meanwhile, slip out of the top half and down to 12th having been overtaken by Crystal Palace and rivals Manchester United, who claimed vital home victories over Leicester City and West Ham United respectively.
