Luke Shaw made his long-awaited debut for Manchester United on Saturday.
The 19-year-old defender joined the Red Devils from Southampton in the summer transfer window for a reported transfer fee of £27 million, but a hamstring injury in pre-season had prevented him from pulling on a United shirt in a competitive match.
On Saturday against West Ham United at Old Trafford in the Premier League, Shaw finally made his bow for the Manchester outfit.
The youngster looked impressive in his first outing for the 20-time English champions and confidently defended in the second half after Wayne Rooney had been sent off.
Another player making his debut for United on Saturday was Patrick McNair. The 19-year-old academy product was given a shot at the first team because of the injury problems (Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans) and suspension (Tyler Blackett).
The teenager did a great job at the back, made a brilliant clearance with a header and provided an all-round performance in United's narrow 2-1 win.
