Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday when they got the better of Hull City 4-2 away from home.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side had been held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium last weekend and needed to win at the KC Stadium to keep the league leaders in sights.
Having demolished Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 at home in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday, City headed into the match against Hull with confidence and on a high.
And it proved to be a pretty comfortable victory for the Citizens. Sergio Aguero put the visitors in the lead in the seventh minute and Edin Dzeko made it 2-0 just four minutes later.
However, Hull threatened to make a contest of the game as they restored parity by the 32nd minute. Eliaquim Mangala headed into his own net and then conceded a penalty that Abel Hernandez tucked home.
City, though, stepped up their game in the second half and scored twice through Dzeko and Frank Lampard to wrap up a 4-2 win.
A number of City players took to social networking site Twitter to revel in their victory over Hull.
