Liverpool have clause to sign teenage wing sensation Demarai Gray - report

Birmingham City FC - St. Andrews

Liverpool have a chance to sign Birmingham's Demarai Gray, according to a report.

Liverpool are in pole position to sign Birmingham's Demarai Gray, according to a report.

The Sun claim that the Reds have a clause agreed with the Blues allowing them to match any other offer received for the teenager.

The paper claims Liverpool struck the agreement regarding The England under-18 international as part of the deal to send Jordon Ibe on loan at the end of last season.

Left-winger Gray, 18, can also play as a central playmaker, doing so in his side's narrow loss to Fulham on Saturday.

That was Gray's third Championship start of the campaign, with one goal to his name already.

The Birmingham Mail wrote last week: "Demarai Gray is the latest big thing at Blues since Nathan Redmond, he is a talented young footballer with a big future ahead of him.

"He broke into the Blues first team last season and at 18-years-old he has already become a big favourite with the fans."

Gray is not the only Championship star Liverpool have been linked with in such circumstances. Reports surfaced last season in The Mirror that as a result of sending Andre Wisdom to Derby, the Reds have a first option deal on midfield prospect Will Hughes.
