Adam Lallana had his best game in a Liverpool shirt on Saturday.
Having now fully recovered from the knee injury that affected his pre-season preparations, the attacking midfielder started the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield.
The Premier League clash ended in a 1-1 draw, but not due to any lack of effort or creativity from the England international.
Signed from Southampton for a reported transfer fee of £25 million in the summer transfer window, the pressure is on Lallana to prove himself at Liverpool.
The 26-year-old has been criticised by some fans for his slow start to the season, but his performance against Everton led Jordan Henderson, who was recently made Liverpool's vice-captain and could become the captain in the future, to rave about his English compatriot.
'I thought Adam was brilliant', he told the club's official website. 'He worked his socks off for the 90 minutes, got into good spaces and he is a brilliant footballer. I thought he was outstanding. He looks match fit again so hopefully he can stay in good shape and kick on now'.
Lallana was arguably the best Liverpool player on the pitch at Anfield on Saturday and exhibited his creativity throughout the 90 minutes.

However, Lallana needs to maintain this level in the coming weeks. Liverpool have made a disappointing start to the season and could struggle to make it into the top four of the Premier League, let alone win the title.
