Cardiff fans react on Twitter to Pilkington's performance v Wednesday

Anthony Pilkington netted his first goal for Cardiff against Wednesday.

Anthony Pilkington was the hero of the hour for Cardiff City against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The 26-year-old scored the winner as his side bagged three valuable points against Stuart Gray's men with a 2-1 win in Wales.

And it was Pilkington's first goal for the club since joining from Norwich City in the summer.

Sean Morrison also scored his first goal for the Bluebirds - but his own goal at the other end meant Pilkington's second-half strike would prove decisive.

"If it was our last game then it's not a bad record really. We are unbeaten in the league and we have taken four points out of six," joint-caretaker boss Scott Young told reporters after the game.

"We will have conversations over the weekend with the owner and the chairman and see where we go from here.

"We all know winning breeds confidence and hopefully this result can do that for the squad. We have taken a point at Derby and we have won at home here, now it is important we get a result at Brighton because that will keep the confidence building."

Young and fellow caretaker coach Danny Gabbidon will no doubt be grateful for Pilkington's contribution. And so too were the fans.
