Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Stambouli's message for Giroud, Redknapp doubts Spurs

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham new boy Benjamin Stambouli says he’s well aware of what the North London derby means for Spurs fans.

He’s also implied that his previously close friendship with Arsenal front man Olivier Giroud is now over.

“I am learning a lot about north London. It is a very important game against Arsenal. I know now that they are the enemy. I used to be friends with Olivier Giroud, but now he is no longer my friend - it is finished,” he said.

Jamie Redknapp says Spurs are some way behind the Gunners.

The former Tottenham midfielder says the club are further away from Arsenal than they have been for some time.

“A few seasons ago Tottenham had closed the gap on Arsenal – but now they're further away than they have been in a long time. Spurs are miles away from being a top four team,” he told Sky Sports News.

Spurs winger Andros Townsend says confidence is high within the club ahead of the North London derby.

Tottenham travel to the Emirates for Saturday’s evening kick-off in the Premier League.

“We’re a confident group so we’re not going to be going there thinking we’ve not won in four years. We’re going to go there with confidence sky-high and knowing, believing, we can get a result if we’re playing well,” he was quoted by F365.
