PHOTO: Manchester United fans fly Cristiano Ronaldo banner; Real Madrid supporters reply with humour

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Manchester United, but Real Madrid fans seem to think that he won’t leave.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti may have publicly dismissed Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure anytime soon, but some Manchester United fans seem to believe that they can convince the forward to return to Old Trafford.

On Saturday, United Reel, a Red Devils fans group which has members from all over the world, decided to make a public plea to the 29-year-old.

Just 15 minutes into Madrid’s La Liga clash against Villarreal at El Madrigal, a light aircraft flew a banner over the stadium with the words: ‘COME HOME RONALDO - UNITED REEL’.

The banner did not affect Ronaldo affect, though, as the Portugal international went about his business and led Madrid to 2-0 victory, scoring in the 40th minute in the process.

But what will Ronaldo’s reply be to United Reel’s pleas to return to United, the club where he played for six years between 2003 and 2009?

It seems that internet pranksters, presumably Madrid fans (at least not Manchester United supporters) have come up with an answer on Ronaldo’s behalf: it is a resounding no.

Of course, Ronaldo may feel differently, but it does not seem feasible at this moment in time that the former Sporting Lisbon star will leave Madrid anytime soon.
