PHOTO: Arteta and Tottenham boss share a smile in friendlier times

Mikel Arteta and Mauricio Pochettino were good friends back in their Paris Saint-Germain playing days.

Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur this evening in the North London Derby. The two familiar rivals are again going at loggerheads in one of the countries more bitter rivals, with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino getting his first taste of this North London affair.

Indeed many of the others in action today will be familiar foes to their opponents, but Pochettino does have a friend among the Arsenal players.

Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has revealed that he and Pochettino were close during their time at Paris Saint-Germain together.

Arteta spent the 2001-02 season on loan at PSG from Barcelona, aged just 21. Pochettino was also in the French capital at the time, arriving in the same year from Spanish outfit Espanyol.

As a fellow Spanish speaker in a strange new city Pochettino became a go-to for the young Arteta and they had a good relationship at PSG.

And now a photo from their time together has emerged on Twitter. The pair are trudging off the pitch after a game with Les Parisians looking jovial and sharing a bit of a hug.

No hugging this evening though lads, not until after the game anyway...
