Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 27th September 2014, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 27th September 2013…
Manchester United were said to be readying a bid for Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay a year ago today. It came as the club looked to bring in defensive reinforcements ahead of concerns over the futures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
The Argentina international was believed to be available for a cut price fee of around £15 million.
In the end United never made a move for Garay, despite his obvious pedigree, and sensationally he signed for Russian outfit Zenit Saint-Petersburg this summer - for just €6 million, an absolute bargain of a price for such a quality central defender.
Juan Mata was discussing his time at Chelsea, insisting that he had plenty of self-belief despite being criticised openly by Jose Mourinho.
“He just told me to play in between the lines and try to control the midfielders and that’s what I try to do. I can play as a No 10 on the wing as I did in first two seasons here. I will play wherever he demands. I want to do the same job as I did in the last two seasons.”
Mata however never settled into Jose Mourinho's system and in January he joined Manchester United.
Reina reign over
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina admitted his days at the club were numbered, after being replaced by Simon Mignolet at Anfield.
He had joined Napoli on loan for the rest of the season but he admitted a year ago today that he would not be returning to Liverpool - and his career at Anfield was at an end:
"No [I won't return to Liverpool]. At the moment it's difficult to think about being a Liverpool player next year. They have a young goalkeeper in Simon Mignolet and the manager prefers him to me. That's the reason why I'm here and he will be at the club next year as well. There's no reason to think I'll be a Liverpool player from now on but we'll see where the future takes us
True to his word Reina has not returned. Upon the expiration of his Italian loan spell he joined Bayern Munich as back-up to Manuel Neuer.
