Mario Balotelli reacts angrily to 1-1 draw with 'lucky' Everton; Sturridge 'gutted'

The Liverpool forward used some strong language on Instagram - but his team-mate was more subtle on Twitter.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has reacted angrily to his side's 1-1 draw with Everton.

The Reds were leading the Merseyside derby against their bitter rivals until the dying minutes, when Phil Jagielka's fantastic late strike secured a point for the Toffees.

But the 23-year-old feels Everton were extremely lucky to leave Anfield with a draw. Steven Gerrard scored a second-half free kick, which the Italian won, to put the home side 1-0 up.

That was not enough to win all three points, however, and an exasperated Balotelli, accompanying his message with a plain back photo, wrote on Instagram:

"That blue team sooo lucky! Can t Belive this! seriously pissed off."

Balotelli was far from at his best against Roberto Martinez's side and wasn't helped by another off day from Lazar Markovic, although there was an improved performance from Adam Lallana.

Injured team-mate Sturridge was more subtle with his appraisal of the game - but he was just as affected by the result despite not taking part in the fixture.

Liverpool next take on FC Basel in the Champions League. A trip to Switzerland will be far from easy on current form.

After that, Liverpool host West Brom at Anfield, where the Reds have now won just once in three home Premier League games.
