Manchester United morning news: £40m gets Otamendi, LvG won't change Blind position

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester United.

Manchester United will reportedly have to pay £40 million to sign Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia.

The Argentine is one of several players to have been tipped as a potential winter target for the Old Trafford club.

Valencia have conceded just twice in La Liga so far this season.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has suggested Daley Blind is unlikely to play in central defence against West Ham.

United have several injuries to key defenders and with Tyler Blackett injured, the boss has been forced to think through his options ahead of the game.

“I don’t like having too many left sided defenders or left footed players in the defence, I think always of balance so I have to pick a right sided central defender from the youth education,” said the boss.

Anderson has reportedly rejected the chance to play for FC Pune City in the Indian Super League.

The 26-year-old Brazilian has not been a regular starter in Louis van Gaal’s side this season.

The midfielder is thought to be against going to a division with a lower standard of football.
