Lallana produced arguably the performance of his Liverpool career during the game as he was superb in a number of areas protecting the ball well and giving his teammates an option when they were under pressure.
He very nearly scored an important goal during the game as well when he connected with a Steven Gerrard corner, which forced a great save from Tim Howard in the Everton goal.
Lallana spoke this morning about the pressure of playing for the club being one of the most difficult challenges he’s faced so far in his career.
However, he said the only way to do that was to enjoy his football, play well and back the fans to give that support where it’s warranted.
He produced a big performance in an important game for the club and he’s now put some pressure on the boss to start him in the Champions League game against Basel during the week.
Lallana has perhaps been a little unfortunate not to play more this season.
Other players have been in good form, which has kept him out of the side following a £25 million move from Southampton in the summer.
He didn’t produce some of the glitzy skills he’s capable of, but he worked hard and covered a lot of ground across the midfield which was important as Liverpool tried to maintain the pressure.
It’s just a shame that his performance wasn’t met with three points after the final whistle because he deserved to be on the winning side based on this game.
If he starts against Basel it will be a different challenge but he’s in good form and will be confident. Here’s what Liverpool fans made of his performance.
