The Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield on Saturday was watched by football followers around the world.
It was also followed by Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton, who did not hold back his opinion on the Premier League clash.
Disappointed Everton never really got after Liverpool today. Lakaku played out of position all match.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) September 27, 2014
Stones was Everton's best player by a mile. Moreno was very good for Liverpool. Game never quite lived up to the expectation.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) September 27, 2014
Gerrard shut one or two of his recent critics, with a superb free kick. Thought Balotelli had a go today. Looked like he cared at least.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) September 27, 2014
Everton defender John Stones was certainly one of the best players on the pitch and was a key reason why Liverpool had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Barton’s comments about Mario Balotelli seem interesting. Earlier this week, the former Newcastle United and Manchester City star claimed that the Liverpool striker is ‘the biggest myth in world football’.
On Saturday, Balotelli had a poor game against Everton. The 24-year-old did make an effort and tried to help out his teammates, but his match stats suggest that he hardly did much.
The former Inter Milan and AC Milan star had just two shots on target, 10 accurate passes and created no chance whatsoever.
