Liverpool appeared to be on course to victory over Everton at Anfield on Saturday as the Merseyside derby entered injury time.
However, Everton defender Phil Jagielka popped up in injury time to shoot home from 30 yards. The match eventually finished 1-1 and the spoils were shared.
The England international’s goal has been widely claimed to be one of the best in the Premier League so far this season, but former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher does not seem convinced.
Left before Jagielka's mis-hit, enjoyed the game thought Stones was outstanding and Lallana getting better every game.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) September 27, 2014
Carragher’s former Liverpool teammate Michael Owen, though, had a different take on Jagielka’s strike.
The former Real Madrid and Newcastle United striker described it as ‘phenomenal’, while also praising Lallana and Stones among others.
Phenomenal strike from Jagielka. Couldn't see Everton scoring in the second half. A point doesn't help either team... http://t.co/QUjGUm0D0R— michael owen (@themichaelowen) September 27, 2014
Picking MOM was a tough choice today. No real standout performer. Moreno, Gerrard, Lallana, and Jagielka all candidates.— michael owen (@themichaelowen) September 27, 2014
