Jamie Carragher: Phil Jagielka strike a ‘mishit’; ex-Liverpool teammate Michael Owen disagrees

Former Liverpool stars Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen have their say on Phil Jagielka’s goal for Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Liverpool appeared to be on course to victory over Everton at Anfield on Saturday as the Merseyside derby entered injury time.

Steven Gerrard’s truly sensational free kick on 65 minutes seemed to be enough for the Reds to pick up all three points from the Premier League clash.

However, Everton defender Phil Jagielka popped up in injury time to shoot home from 30 yards. The match eventually finished 1-1 and the spoils were shared.

The England international’s goal has been widely claimed to be one of the best in the Premier League so far this season, but former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher does not seem convinced.

Taking to social networking site Twitter after the game, the 36-year-old claimed that Jagielka’s shot was a ‘mis-hit but praised Everton defender John Stones and Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana.

Carragher’s former Liverpool teammate Michael Owen, though, had a different take on Jagielka’s strike.

The former Real Madrid and Newcastle United striker described it as ‘phenomenal’, while also praising Lallana and Stones among others.
