Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur played out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
The first clear-cut chance of the match fell to Gunners striker Danny Welbeck in the 21st minute, but the England international’s shot from outside the box was saved by Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Emmanuel Adebayor was denied at the other end just moments later, before Jack Wilshere’s long-range attempt was thwarted by Lloris.
Chances dried up thereafter, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain tested Lloris with another shot from outside the Tottenham box on 43 minutes, before Nacer Chadli and Emmanuel Adebayor came close on the stroke of half time.
Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil had chances for Arsenal in the opening minutes of the second half, but it was Tottenham who surged ahead in the 56th minute.
Christian Eriksen saw his wonderful free kick saved by Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, but a minute later Chadli slotted home from close range after latching onto a brilliant pass from Erik Lamela.
Per Mertesacker could have equalised for Arsenal before the hour mark had his close-range header not been kept out by Lloris, but the Gunners eventually earned a point.
Arsenal’s equaliser came in the 74th minute when Oxlade-Chamberlain slammed home from close range after Welbeck had failed to connect with the ball.
