Jake Bidwell is wary of the effect Darko Milanic could have as new manager of Leeds United.
Brentford star Jake Bidwell is wary of the threat from Leeds United under new manager Darko Milanic.
The Bees player has suggested that Leeds will be difficult to predict under the 46-year-old who takes charge of his first game for the Whites this afternoon.
“It’s difficult we’ve been through the previous games but with a new manager from yesterday it’ll be all change at the weekend,” he told London 24.
Bidwell’s prediction contradicts the points made by Milanic himself in the build up to this game.
Milanic has said that he needs time to get to know his new team and the presence of ex-caretaker boss Neil Redfearn in the dugout at Brentford should help the side maintain the recent momentum they’ve been able to create.
Bidwell is wary of that momentum because winning games breeds a positive mentality, which is allowing Leeds to climb the table and another win could see the Whites attacking the play-off places.
“We’ll prepare as best we can. We’ll watch a bit of the Bournemouth game. They’ve had some good results.”
Brentford have home advantage but Leeds achieved a 3-1 win in a similar game against Bournemouth while grabbing a point in an intimidating atmosphere against Birmingham away from home.
The only thing which could break Leeds’ momentum this afternoon is if the new manager has tried to make too many changes early on or if Leeds are simply outplayed by a better team.
The latter of those two possibilities will be easier for Leeds fans to accept and there’s no indication that Milanic has been drastically trying to change the formation or style of the current team.
It’s likely to be a good, tight game between two sides in similar positions in the table and Leeds have got enough to sneak the win.
