On loan Liverpool centre back Tiago Ilori has scored his first goal for Bordeaux, drawing his side level in a top of the table clash against Saint Etienne.
Reacting to André Boyogo Poko's wayward volley, Ilori diverted the ball beyond Stephane Ruffier with a deft header, before continuing in Bordeaux's resolute defence to keep the hosts at bay.
The 21-year-old had only scored one other goal in his professional career, when he netted for Sporting in 2013 against Gil Vicente.
Despite costing a hefty fee when he moved to Merseyside, Ilori is still yet to feature for the Premier League giants, and was once again sent out on loan to another division to garner regular first team experience, rather than challenge for a place at Anfield.
Having impressed in La Liga with Granada last year, Ilori already seems to be doing the same in Ligue 1 with Bordeaux, despite having made just 2 appearances.
His headed goal helped the Gironde outfit keep up their impressive start this season, with Willy Sagnol's side currently flying high in 2nd place.
Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool will be hoping he continues to feature in a Bordeaux side doing as well as they are, only to return to Melwood next year a bonafide first team candidate.
However, if his form keeps up, some fans will surely ask, why is he out on loan, especially with defensive concerns remaining for the Reds?
