Predicted Liverpool XI to play Everton - Back to 4-5-1 for Rodgers?

Match to be played on Saturday 27th September 2014 at 12:45. Venue: Anfield, Liverpool.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping his side put in a big performance this weekend against Everton.

The Merseyside derby is one of the biggest in the Premier League and it will be interesting to see how Liverpool react after they were beaten 3-1 away at West Ham last weekend.

Here’s the side Rodgers could go with for the game.

GK – Simon Mignolet

By no means the finished product but the best goalkeeper the Reds have at the club.

RB – Javi Manquillo

With no sign of an imminent return for Glen Johnson or Jon Flanagan, Manquillo should continue on the right hand side.

CB – Martin Skrtel

Skrtel is one of the best ‘no nonsense’ defenders in the Premier League. Back to basics please from the Slovakian.

CB – Dejan Lovren

Lovren needs to find some consistency. At times this season he’s been settled and at others he’s looked erratic. Hopefully it’s the former in this game.

LB – Alberto Moreno

Moreno was rested for the clash against Middlesbrough in mid-week but he should come back into the team.

RM – Jordan Henderson

Fingers crossed Henderson recovers from the knock, which kept him out of the League Cup game. If he’s fit, he starts.

LM – Adam Lallana

Lallana can inject a bit more creativity into the team off of the left hand side. He can also rotate with Raheem sterling in the number ten slot.

CM – Lucas

Lucas can sit deep in midfield and protect the defence. He had a tough and long game in mid-week so don’t be surprised if he gets subbed early in the second-half, forcing a re-shape.

CM – Steven Gerrard

Gerrard is unlikely to confine himself in midfield, dropping deep and pressing forward when he can. He’ll look to pick the ball up and start stroking around the passes.

AM – Raheem Sterling

Sterling can slot in behind the main striker. He’s good enough to drift out wide but also harass the opposition defence, looking to get in behind.

ST – Mario Balotelli

Balotelli will lead the attack, playing at the very top of the attack. His confidence should be sky high at the moment.
