This summer the agent of Italian international Sebastian Giovinco made it clear that his client could have made his way to Arsenal from current club Juventus.
In May the comments from Andrea D'Amico to Italian television were as follows, while Tottenham and Liverpool were also linked with his signature:
"I am not surprised that Arsenal and Tottenham are being linked, considering the quality of Arsene Wenger's choices and the fine level of Tottenham's squad. However, they are not the only clubs. Olympiakos, Monaco and Liverpool? There are many other teams, as Giovinco is appreciated everywhere. Before anything we'll talk to Juventus and then we'll see."
Giovinco, the diminutive forward, has never cemented himself as a regular with the Bianconeri. Last campaign he played just 19 games for the club in all competitions and with his contract expiring in June of next year his future at the club again looks hazy.
Arsenal may not need him anymore, while it is arguable that Liverpool and Spurs are also not necessarily in the market for a player of his ilk - but regardless his agent has spoken about his future again today.
He was speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, and stated:
"At the moment Sebastian has the contract expiring in 2015, which is really a strange thing for a 26 year old guy with his resume and his qualities. Anyway, we are calm. We know that like many clubs, both in Italy and abroad. In the coming weeks, however, we will negotiate only with Juventus, which has not yet occurred."
For now Juventus have not pushed for a renewal and with him not looking like a regular in the team once again he could certainly be available at the end of the season. So we are sure Arsenal and co will be keeping tabs.
