Michael Owen points out stunning Emmanuel Adebayor record in North London derby; backs Danny Welbeck to be ‘the difference’

Michael Owen has his say on the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

Danny Welbeck broke his duck for Arsenal last weekend against Aston Villa, and Michael Owen backs the striker to score against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker also points out a stunning record of Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

‘Spurs have only won one of their last 21 away at Arsenal and the Gunners last failed to score at home to their neighbours in the PL back in 1998!’ the 34-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.

‘Emmanuel Adebayor has scored more goals in the North London derby than any other player (8 for Arsenal & 2 for Spurs), but it might be a striker making his first appearance in the fixture Danny Welbeck who is the difference between the sides having broken his duck at Villa Park last weekend’.

Welbeck will indeed be fired up for his first North London derby. The England international was let go by United on transfer deadline day, with Arsenal paying their Premier League rivals a reported transfer fee of £16 million for his services.

The 23-year-old has yet to be fully convincing in an Arsenal shirt despite his goal at Villa Park last weekend, but he is certainly not short of confidence at the moment.

As for Adebayor, if he starts for Tottenham, then he will certainly be looking to do damage to his former club Arsenal.

It was at Arsenal that the 30-year-old made his name in world football, but it is at Tottenham where he has resurrected his career after struggling at Manchester City.
