Hugo Lloris has described Mauricio Pochettino as a 'leader' and says he has made a positive impact since arriving at Tottenham Hotspur.
Pochettino was appointed as boss at White Hart Lane this summer after the club were impressed with the work he did at Southampton in his first job in England and he has been tasked with guiding them into the top four.
So far any improvement that has been made has been minor, on the pitch at least, but Lloris feels that the Argentine has made an impact on the training ground.
"He is a leader," Lloris said to the Daily Mail. "He has this attitude every day. He is a young manager but he doesn’t show it. He is very clear in his speaking. He has a presence and a proper concept of football. He has a philosophy."
"The atmosphere is great. We are hungry, we want to improve, and we want to get better. We are just at the beginning. We have a lot to improve and show it as a team. But I think we can see the progress."
So far Spurs' start to the season has been rather deflating. They picked up wins in their first two fixtures against West Ham United and QPR, but since their form has been rather concerning and it will need to be improved if they are to meet their expectations this season.
Tottenham are determined to breach the top four, but they came up considerably short in their first match against a Champions League contender when they took on Liverpool.
The Reds came to White Hart Lane and demolished Spurs with a fine display of attacking football and there are worries that this has highlighted how far Pochettino's men still have to go.
Tottenham will be able to appease their fans' concerns somewhat this weekend, though, if they manage to win in the North-London derby.
The match presents a winnable opportunity for the side and one which they will be determined to take as they seek to get their season back on track.
